Network and IT information

For IT staff at prisons, jails, schools and other managed networks who want to allow the Share the Sermon apps (version 9.0 and later) without opening general internet access.

What each app needs

The list of sermons (or chapters) is built into the app. It opens and lists everything with no network at all.
Listening needs HTTPS (TCP port 443) to one audio host — see the table below.
Optional: HTTPS to sharethesermon.com, checked at most once a day for new additions. If blocked, the app keeps working with its built-in list.
Audio can be downloaded inside the app; downloads play with no network.

Nothing else: no Google Play services, no Firebase, no push notifications, no accounts or sign-in, no ads, no analytics, no WebView, no in-app purchases. Android 5.0 or newer.

Android permissions: internet access, keep-awake and foreground service (to keep playing with the screen off). No storage, location, contacts, camera or microphone permissions.

Older versions

Versions before 9.0 loaded their lists from ratetheoffer.com or breakeveryyoke.com over the network at startup, and also used Google Firebase, OneSignal and Google Play billing. On a restricted network they can get stuck on the loading screen. Please update to 9.0 or later.
